Michael J. Skoda is a Masters level therapist, licensed by the state of Ohio (dually licensed to treat both mental health-LPCC and addictive behaviors/substance use disorders-LICDC license, who has worked in the social services field since 2005. He holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling from John Carroll University.  Michael is a LPCC-S (Supervising Professional Clinical Counselor)-licensed to both practice and supervise those newer to the counseling field, who has a particular passion for genuine interactions with his clients that result in practical solutions, and real-life change.

Michael’s professional expertise includes: marital therapy, addictions, trauma, anxiety/depression, phobias, personality disorders and Christian counseling. In addition to providing individual and couples counseling, Michael works as a Clinical Supervisor for a well-known Substance Use Disorder/Rehab facility in the Akron, OH area and brings a real life, practical perspective to his counseling. Michael has specialized expertise in Gottman-Method Couples and Marriage Counseling; Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). He values interactions that are personal, empathetic, thought provoking and life changing.

Michael is blessed to have one 12 year old son. Michael is an active member of his church, and enjoys his faith, sports, bowling, board games, hiking and truly connecting with family and friends.
